Degausser

Degausser is a technical device for permanent and irreversible removal all data from magnetic media.

Wiping information by means of degausser includes wiping of media such as among other things: hard discs, magnetic tapes, removable magnetic media (floppy discs, zip discs).

Data from media is removed in a way not visible for outside users. The strong magnetic field created for the purpose of degaussing permanently and irreversibly shifts arrangements of magnetic material (polarization) on discs and other magnetic media.

Hard disks and other media, after degaussing, are not suitable for renewed use in connection with wiping of data sectors of bootable disks.
